The Vine Tree is the place where great cooking and fantastic vibes meet for a truly wonderful dining experience.

Formerly an old mill, serving beverages through the front windows to travellers in passing carriages, The Vine Tree is a now a Freehold Inn, nestling in the tiny picturesque traditional English hamlet of Norton on the Wiltshire / Gloucestershire border on the edge of The Cotswolds. Today the Inn offers a warm inviting atmosphere with lashings of character, flagstone floors, a wealth of old beams and a large welcoming open fire in the central bar which we burn wood on all winter.

Candlelight flickers invitingly through the windows on dark days and nights from cream Church alter candles on natural unvarnished oak and antique pine wooden tables. We have a wood burning stove at one end of the snug restaurant whilst upstairs there is a secluded area which is very popular for private meetings, dinner parties or family birthday gatherings.

If you are lucky you might spot one or two ghosts, recently ‘seen’ and said to appear as a small boy dressed in polo kit and an old lady in period costume! Several of the first polo pitches in England were located in Norton, directly next to the Inn which might explain the small boy, but the old lady remains a mystery.
